Sinamay Hat

With this project we were to design a hat and create your design with sinamay. this was to give us beginner millinery experience.
Sinamay is really thin straw threads that have a layer of glue on it so when you use water and a little heat you can shape the fabric and mold it to the design you want.
I created a night sky look by taking blue sinamay to create the base of the hat. Once that step was completed, I cut out the little shapes to create the swirls and cloud looks. I then cut out and secured the moon by sewing it to the blue base and the cloud pieces. I finished the project off by sewing on little pieces of thread that had little star beads dangling at the ends for a twinkling effect.
