Role
Designer
This was another costume crafts project. The assignment was to create a piece of armor using EVA Foam.
My inspiration for this project was the porcelain corsets that are being created all over the internet. I wanted to ensure the final product would truly look like glass in the end.
I first used the paper pattern to outline the design on the foam. Once that was complete I carefully used a blade to cut out the shapes and used the natural curve in the foam to shape it to fit my shoulder. I then used barge as an adhesive to stick the two pieces together properly.
After making sure everything was dried, I then used foam clay to create the vines, flowers, and thorn spikes and let that dry over night.
In this final stage I used many layers of each paint to gain a solid color for each color on top of the white base paint layers. Once all the paint dried I put a clear mod-podge spray cover gloss to ensure the finished product would fully seal and look shiny.
