Commission work
A colleague of mine needed a cloak for a maleficent costume, so they ordered a commissioned red cloak from me.
I first created a rendering to get an idea of what he wanted the cloak to look like once we had the finished product.
The fabric I used was a thinner fleece to keep warm, and to also make sure the unfinished edges would not fray. I started with a rendering and 4 yds of the fabric.
I took the measurement of his collarbone to their ankle for the height of the cloak, then added 7 inches for the neck hole. I traced out both the cloak bottom and the neck hole, then cut them both out.
Once this was completed, to create the hood I used the neck measurement to create where the hood would attach, and then measured 22 inches where the hood would open in the front. I then drafted the shape of the hood and cut the pieces out.
Once this was finished I sewed the two pieces of the hood together, then I attached the hood to the cloak.
After assembling the cloak itself I took a section of the cloak and used rhinestones to create a flame design at the bottom.
